Use the method recommended for the specific material. Test an approved cleaner in a less visible area before applying it broadly.
Let the product guidance lead
Machine washing, soaking and direct heat are not suitable for every shoe. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for drying and storage.
Check soles, seams and fastenings as part of the routine. Care can keep a pair presentable, but it cannot substitute for replacing footwear that is worn out or no longer suitable for its intended use.
